Building sustainable, inclusive and just cities (Antonis Vradis and Hons colleagues)

Antonis teaches a popular Honours module at St Andrews, Building Sustainable, Inclusive and Just Cities.

In the module’s inaugural year (2020-21), Hons colleagues were asked to present a major urban challenge in a city that they were familiar with, and to explain how local communities could go about challenging this, without corporate or state intervention. The result was Community Power, a virtual special issue edited by Moriah Hull, Linda Eckefeldt, Mathilde Roze and Antonis Vradis.

In 2022-23, the edited collection turned into the first book published by the Radical Urban Lab: “Sustainable, Inclusive and Just Cities” numbered 369 pages featuring 31 contributions from around the world, and was edited by Jannah Babar, Connor Durkin, Agoston Horanyi, Racheal Inegbedion, Frances MacKinnon, Jack McGee, Sky McMahon, Grace Sisel and Antonis Vradis.

In 2023-24, the second volume of our book numbered 431 pages (!) featuring 46 contributions from around the world and a a foreword from Prof Deb Cowen at the University of Toronto.

Stay tuned for the third volume of the book, currently under preparation with the 2024-25 cohort!
